What I found according to the log was that Hd-idle did a great job with SDB and SDC, but SDA didn't get paused nearly as frequently. I've just disabled my swapfiles, so I'll check again in a day or two and see if that made a difference.

I checked the log today and hd-idle has been pausing sda repeatedly during the day with the swap file turned off. Unfortunately I need the memory to run the programs I want, but I may consider setting up the swap file on a older USB drive. Allowing me to boot from sata and still have a swap file. See log file below, I believe times are in seconds
