It is not possible.
Grub doesn't work on ARM.

i see... is there another similar way of chain loading? putting on the sata some kind of diverting booting configuration?

Basically, it a matter of pointing to to sdbX instead of sdaX since on the oxnas, the sda is always sata if it is attached at boot.

Hey guys thanks for the help. I tried HD-idle but it did the same thing all the other spin down tools did, spin down then right back up. I may just try an SSD and put the big drive in a USB enclosure.

After viewing this thread I went back and looked at the HD-Idle log. What I found according to the log was that Hd-idle did a great job with SDB and SDC, but SDA didn't get paused nearly as frequently. I've just disabled my swapfiles, so I'll check again in a day or two and see if that made a difference.

I checked the log today and hd-idle has been pausing sda repeatedly during the day with the swap file turned off. Unfortunately I need the memory to run the programs I want, but I may consider setting up the swap file on a older USB drive. Allowing me to boot from sata and still have a swap file. See log file below, I believe times are in seconds
