OpenMediaVault on your GoFlex Home

Postby maihoaomv » Fri Nov 02, 2012 6:14 pm

Yep! it's possible to run OpenMediaVault on your GoFlex Home (probably GoFlex Net and Dockstar also). It's currently at version .4 and coming along nicely. It makes setting up and administrating your server almost painless. There is an excellent tutorial over on the OpenMediaVault fourm at:
http://forums.openmediavault.org/viewto ... f=12&t=514

Be sure to read the entire tutorial first. There are a few things that may not work as advertised. I had some problems with getting the openmediavault key installed and plugins to work.

So I guess for me this is good-bye to Arch LInux. It's been a frustrating experience not so much because of Arch Linux but because of hardware problems on my GoFlex Home. But one thing for certain: it's been an educational experience.

sayonara, adios, au revoir, arrivederci, auf wiedersehen, cheerio, so long, bye-bye, later gator, etc., etc., etc.

Moved to community guides.

I see only a Debian guide? Oh wait, nvm. "I can't understand RTC".

no question, no problems now that I've got debian and openmediavalut running on my goflex home. it handles the bad (and lack of a) battery and hardware clock problem so much better than arch linux. someone over on the debian site showed me a trick for getting around the fsck "in the future" error caused by the incorrect time in the hwclock that was causing fsck to fail at boot time.
