[RESOLVED] Assign Static IP, Arch on TP2

Postby Ezraghast » Mon Nov 05, 2012 2:00 pm

Hi. I'm having difficulty in assigning a static IP to my Arch Arm installation on a USB stick attached to my Tonidoplug2. I've edited /etc/rc.conf and /etc/resolv.conf with the correct information but on reboot I'm still picking up an IP via DHCP. I did a full update with pacman -syu but just noticed on the wiki that rc.conf is now deprecated. Is that the problem and is there a workaround?? Or am I going about this the wrong way, or missing something?? Any help appreciated :!:

Easiest way for old or systemd
install netfcg
Copy appropiate file from /etc/network.d/examples to /etc/network.d
Edit that file to what you want
Put the name of that file in networks line
systemctl enable netcfg #for systemd
replace network with netcfg in DAEMONS line in rc.conf

Hi pepedog, thanks for your help. I'm a little lost at the point below:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pepedog', 'P')ut the name of that file in networks line
systemctl enable netcfg #for systemd

I've added the filename to the networks line in netcfg but I'm not sure what "systemctl enable netcfg #for systemd" refers to exactly...?

Assuming you have systemd running, systemctl enable netcfg@.service calls netcfg @ boot to configure your networks.

See the upstream wiki about proper use.
