Wordpress / Cherokee

Postby mad212 » Tue Aug 02, 2011 4:39 pm

I'm trying to install wordpress on Cherokee but I kept getting a fcgi error. After fixing that problem by installing fcgi with pacman, I now get this error.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'C')hecking Requirements

Neither the 'mysql' nor the 'mysqli' modules are supported by your PHP interpreter

Try the following instructions to install the required software:

For more about this module visit http://php.net/manual/en/book.mysql.php

I'm new to linux and to Arch Linux ARM install apps/archlinux, SO i'm at a lost even after hours of googling :/

Maybe not so obvious:
You need to ensure they are there, and enable them: either mysql or mysqli plugins for PHP.

Then of course, you'll need mysql itself?

Hello,
I am new to ArchLinuxARM. I am having problems installing Wordpress CMS on a Cherokee server platform running on a pogoplug. I've tried the Cherokee installation wizard, the Cherokee Wordpress cookbook, and tips from many websites. Any suggestions/recommendations would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

My experience with cherokke was that nothing of what it offers to install through the gui worked. I ended up installing everything manually, and I recommend that to you. It isn't that hard and you still have gui control over the cherokee configuration. You will need to get familiar with tar xvzf <filename>.tar.gz type commands, wget <url>. and find out what the cherokee directory is from where it serves the http. If/when you get more familiar with linux in general, try lighttpd instead as it's a lot lighter but there's no gui.

Moonman,
Thanks for the feedback. After many tries, I abandoned the Cherokee installation and opted instead for APACHE. So far it's working great. I now have a webserver with a registered domain name running on my pogoplug. What a great bargain and great learning experience. In the future, I will give lightppd a try when I have more familiarity with archlinux.
