Here's it is:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'pacman -U http://music4dance.mine.nu/Downloads/ArchLinuxArm/linux-3.1.10-16-arm.pkg.tar.xz http://music4dance.mine.nu/Downloads/ArchLinuxArm/linux-headers-3.1.10-16-arm.pkg.tar.xz')

will test tonight and report back.

update:
Very strange. I can see the Chinese instruction during installation. However, after install and reboot, the Chinese file/folder names on the samba share are still questions marks. Any settings that I need to edit?

Just a note: I can see the Chinese file/folder names on other SSH (like a Linux computer) or Windows Explorer just fine.

So it doesn't work only with putty and samba. but before it didn't work everywhere, correct?

With putty may have to change the font in the setting for the one that supports chinese characters.
In samba you probably need to specify the charset in the smb.conf

Try this
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'dos charset=CP936
unix charset=GBK
display charset=GBK')

and this

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'dos charset=CP936
unix charset=UTF8
display charset=UTF8')

if the second one works it would be preferable

To answer your questions:

1. I only tried samba via putty -- as the Pogoplug has no UI/WebUI, so SSH is the only access for me. putty was correctly configured -- as it works on other systems for Chinese.
2. I do not know if it works/does not work everywhere before. All I know is that mounted samba share does not display Chinese.
3. I am using the client part of the samba function. So I would edit samba.conf and try again? I will try and report back tomorrow.

Samba and ssh are completely different things though. Do you have samba setup at all.

I understand. I installed both samba server and client on the plug. Have not configured server yet. I am using the client functions to mount cifs shares.
