Consider your partition start sector. You should be block aligning it anyways

I have no idea what that means. I was just following the steps on the cubieboard section. Nothing is documented there about 'sectors' or 'block aligning'

Here is a hint: did resulting in a corruption of the first partition should scream 'overwritten partition'.

There needs to be room to did the files in front of the partitions.

Ok so lets say my sd card on my desktop shows up as /dev/sdd because I am using a usb adapter.

Do I dd to /dev/sdd1 for the first partition or /dev/sdd for the device itself?

The instructions make it look like to the first partition. But then if it was to be written to the first partition why would it matter if I change where the first partition starts. I would still be dd'ing to the first partition anyway.

/dev/mmcblkX is not /dev/mmcblkXp1

For sdX it would just be sdX.

This explains so much. So I guess you were right. I didn't provide enough details before. Thank you

I just received my Cubie yesterday and got it to boot using the instructions from http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7/cubieboard.
Now im wondering how to get the hdmi output working, i did see somewhere in this thread that it is not enabled by default but not how to enable it (or missed that). So what is needed to get something on my display? :)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Envil', 'I') just received my Cubie yesterday and got it to boot using the instructions from http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7/cubieboard.

Add this to your uEnv.txt in /boot:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'disp.screen0_output_type=3 disp.screen0_output_mode=1920x1080p60')

Has anyone had any luck getting the Mali XOrg driver to work yet? Bails out for me.

Does that just go at the end of the uEnv.txt? Doing that changes nothing for me.
