GoFlex Home won't boot from USB with SATA plugged in

This forum is for Marvell Kirkwood devices such as the GoFlex Home/Net, PogoPlug v1/v2, SheevaPlug, and ZyXEL devices.

Yes, I've tried booting with the SATA drive removed and the USB drive inserted.

Same result. No access.

Any significance to the orange light being the only one blinking on the ethernet port?

No that's normal. Mine only blinks orange as well. I really don't know what else you can try. You probably just need to wait for the serial.

Moonman, I've got the serial cable and and I'm able to speak to it.

Can you tell me how to fix this thing? Reading the following two links hasn't helped much.

You should have U-Boot flashed already, so no need to reflash it. Would be nice to see your boot log to determine what's wrong.

I recorded the output from Putty for a few minutes after first connecting to the GFH. I have not been able to make any changes or upload a new UBOOT yet, though it's not for a lack of want. I just haven't figured out what I'm doing yet. First time repairing a bricked device with a serial cable.

Here is the text output
(This is with no drives connected, though the output does not change much with USB):

Well that was the point. You need to have Santa or USB connected, preferably once each. Do that and post the log for each (data and USB) then interrupt the boot process and at the uboot prompt issue "printenv" and post that here as well.

Thanks for the direction moonman. I was forced to cannibalize the USB drive I was using. If absolutely necessary, I can install ALARM from scratch on a new drive or use the old one again briefly. For now, here is what you asked for. SATA drive connected first.

Everything seems right, except there's something wrong with your boot partition on the sata drive, and for usb you need to set usb_rootfstype to ext3 by entering this:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'setenv usb_rootfstype ext3
saveenv
reset')

It should boot after. Just wait for a bit and if it doesn't post your full log back here.
