WDLXTV is a whole different beast from the purpose here at Arch Linux ARM. I run that software on my WDTV Live, but that's as far as it gets.

MiniDLNA is a program for your plug computer, to turn your plug into a DLNA-compatible media streaming device, so that it can stream audio and video to a display device such as the WDTV using DLNA. It is not designed to be run on a WDTV, that defeats the whole purpose. The WDTV can already play media from attached storage.

You should be installing MiniDLNA on your plug computer (Sheeva, Pogo, Dockstar, etc.), assigning audio/video folders on storage attached to the plug, and then on the WDTV you can then see and play all the media by going to Video -> Media Servers -> Name-of-your-device. If you don't have a plug computer, you're in the wrong forum, sorry.

hello,

I just tried to install minidlna on my dockstart, but unfortunately minidlna won't start.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '/usr/sbin/minidlna: error while loading shared libraries: libva-0.31.0.6.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory')

A quick look in http://Arch Linux ARM.com/arm/extra/ shows that the libva package has been updatet on November 23rd.

Could this be the problem and if so, what is the best way to fix it?

During the recent repo rebuild, ffmpeg (which provides libavcodec.so) was built before libva, causing libavcodec to link to the previous version of libva. Then the new libva replaced the old version, causing minidlna to not start now. We'll get the packages rebuilt correctly and updates into the repo.

Thanks for bringing this to attention.

Please read previous posts. We know of the issue. I posted less than 30 minutes ago that we're fixing it, give us a reasonable amount of time.

ffmpeg is fixed. Do a `pacman -Syu` to get that in.

There is also a new dependency that popped up, and isn't included by any of the packages. You'll need to do `pacman -S jack` to get libjack installed, so minidlna will start up.

thanks kmihelich, minidlna is running like a charm.

I stumbled across a interesting patch that includes more functionality for Samsung TVs
http://sourceforge.net/projects/minidlna/forums/forum/879957/topic/3708596/index/page/4

Does anybody already have a compiled package with this patch included and could upload it?
Otherwise I will look into compiling it myself and if there is any interest upload it.

I just came to same conclusion as you (and found that patch too), and it seems to affect more than Samsung TV's.
