Nope. Cache cleared, pacman -Syy, pacman -Syu just gets hundreds of:
error: could not open file /var/lib/pacman/sync/xxxx.db: unrecognized archive format
I'm trying four mirrors, hence the hundreds of messages.

pacman -Scc - OK; pacman -Syy - OK; pacman -Syu, or pacman S lxde - error: could not open file /var/xxxxx: Unrecognized archive format. With apologies to Will:

Did anyone suggest checking your power supply? I have seen my Pi act very strangely when it was not getting quite enough juice. When these errors occur, can you check power TP1-TP2?

You also might wget these db or xz files on your Ubuntu box directly, and then compare some checksums to see if the files on your Pi might be corrupted.

Also, sometimes all that it takes is a good reboot for my Pi to regain it's sanity.
