Pogoplug v2 cross platform cpu benchmark software?

Postby kayot » Mon Jul 15, 2013 8:40 pm

I want to compare the Pogoplug v2 against an old Compaq in terms of raw processing power (FLOPS). Are there any ARM benchmark utilities for CPU testing that will also work on x86?

http://code.google.com/p/byte-unixbench/ from the simple ones.

Phoronix suite is more complex

Thank you for the information. I went a head and put Arch on the desktop, setup the software I'd be using and I let the two duke it out.

In terms of cpu power, the PC won. In terms of energy consumption, the Pogo won. It's not very surprising. What was suprising was the gap in power being so wide. I always knew that x86 was faster, but the observed results were staggering. The PC was a Compaq from 2004. I figured the Pogo being newer would have closed the gap a bit. In reality, the PC curb stomped the Pogo.

Again, thank you. I'll play with these tools you've suggested and see if the Pogo can compete elsewhere besides simple energy consumption.

Pogo is pretty competative if you are not using floating point as it doesn't have a floating point unit. Also armv5 is pretty old too
