Error: my.pogoplug.com stuck processing media

Postby iTycoon » Mon Aug 19, 2013 4:22 pm

Hi All,

Many thanks to the members of this forum. I have successfully installed Arch Linux on my Pogoplug v4, setup Webmin, my.pogoplug.com, and Samba. It's working great, except for one thing.

I've attached a screenie.

I've transfered my data to the 2TB Toshiba Canvio and the service began processing media for thumnails and optimizing for browsing on apps for phone and tablet, as well as web (I'm assuming) with no problem.

When I installed the iPhone app to backup all photos and movies I've taken (awesome) to free space on iPhone, I noticed the website would get stuck processing this .mov file. It seems to process the others, but not this one. I can't tell if it's successfully processed other .mov file. I don't know if there is a log file somewhere.

If I try to stop it I get an error:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'An unhandled RPC exception occurred on method featureCommand: 500 [Unspecified server error]')

I've opened a support ticket with pogoplug as it seems clear to me to be a server issue, but I'm wondering if the website is the client connecting to a server process on the pogoplug via remote procedure call because the issue has been escalated to 2nd level and they've asked what changes, if any, I've made. Of course, I said none, wondering what they can tell.

I've done all I can to not let on that I have alarm installed. I changed the hostname to Pogoplug and all looks stock in the website.

As long as it's stuck processing media, I can't enable cloud sync (awesome) to backup my hard drives to the cloud.

Any insight is appreciated. Anyone else have an issue like this?

Thanks!

Edit: I've since deleted this video after trying to play it and it froze. Perhaps the video file is corrupted. It's still stuck processing that entry, except there's no filename now. I've tried to turn of thumbnail generation... same error. I've reset and rescanned but the entry is still there.

I received a reply from second level support at Pogoplug. They were able to determine that I had made changes. They said the kernel was not known and the my.pogoplug.com service was outdated. Here is the message from them:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')hank you for your patience.

Our engineers have examined your device and it seems that the firmware version does not match the recent release that was rolled out a few weeks ago. Your device's version is 3.3.0 and the recent release is 3.3.2. Also, the kernel version shows an unknown version. This is caused due to changes to the device through SSH. If this was not performed by your steps, it is probably that you have purchase a device that have been hacked, this means that the warranty is void and we are unable to provide support, nor can we provide answers for unexpected behavior.

While Support is here to support Pogoplug's core functionality only, let me try to help you out. Again, we cannot offer support for these actions, and this are only recommendation in order to restore Pogoplug's original functionality If you are now sure how to perform this, we cannot give you additional information :

I'm not sure if the instruction for Arch Linux ARM is the same as ARCH LEENUCKS ARM!1ONE but perhaps your overwrite the original bootloader.

If you can still SSH into your Pogoplug, enter this text: "/usr/local/cloudengines/bin/./blparam bootcmd=run bootcmd_original" to restore the original boot loader.

Otherwise, you can build a serial cable and overwrite the firmware and kernel. Links to the most current production images are hosted here

Best regards

How do we update? I used moonman's instructions for installing the service which calls for installing 3.3.0 via pacman from a dropbox user share. Is there an update? Where is the source to get my.pogoplug.com updated software?

Thanks

Since you already have a ticket opened with them, maybe ask if they can share the 3.3.2 binary so moonman can update the package?

[Edit] - moonman updated the my.pogoplug.com app to 3.3.2.

I was hoping it would resolve my iPhone video uploading issue, but it doesn't look like it.

@grayman4hire, I did ask. They gave me the standard response. Automatically updated, no links, no FTP. I knew it would be sniffed out.

I updated to the new firmware version and that resolved my issue. Thanks to all.
