Uboot and kernel are already contained in Releases. But I don't have the knowledge how to set up my SATA drive for booting this uboot and kernel files. Can somebody tell me how to do this?

My script shows you rather specifically, from the How-To on booting from sata. Just read the content.

I used your script already with other kernels. But with this uboot and kernel the files are somehow different.

u-boot-spl - might be similar to your stage files
u-boot - What to do with uboot.env which shall be on FAT partition? How to set up the uboot.env for booting from SATA?

uImage - Ok, I could flash it but I am missing the module path.
ox820.dtb - What to do with this file.

So it is not so easy to use this uboot and kernel directly. Alternatively I could try to compile an own kernel based on the sources and load it with the old uboot from your SATA script. But it would be nice to get information how to put the new files directly to SATA disk and maybe flash them later.

I have seen your releases tags. Are you booting with tftp instead of SATA? Can you please provide some information how to boot your files from SATA disk?

Use WarheadsSE's script, and replace ./uImages/uImage.pci with the following one, good luck

BTW: There is a blog about the performance issue

Hello navym,
thank you for the upload of the kernel. I did a comparision of the SATA performance between your kernel and the 2.6.31.6_SMP_820 kernel provided by WarheadsSE. I used the same hardware, same rootfs with the following mount options and commands:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '/dev/sda4 on /media/data type ext4 (rw,noatime,errors=remount-ro,commit=100,barrier=0,nobh,data=writeback)
dd if=/dev/zero of=/media/data/test.tmp bs=500K count=1024
dd if=/media/data/test.tmp of=/dev/null bs=500K count=1024')
2.6.31.6_SMP_820
Read: 80MB/s
Write: 69MB/s

3.11.1+
Read: 80MB/s
Write: 35MB/s

Seems really significant, I will try to improve it and let you test again. :)

Still better than what I was getting *with* DMA (20MB/s max)

I'm having problems with the ethernet under this kernel, it looks like packets are getting sent, and something is received, but dhcp and ping replies don't come back. ARP appears to work though, as the arp tables are getting filled with correct data on both my pogoplug and my pc when I attempt to ping addresses.

I tested the kernel with a faster harddisk and got the following results:

2.6.31.6_SMP_820
Read: 111MB/s
Write: 68MB/s

3.11.1+
Read: 100MB/s
Write: 34MB/s
