Zyxel NSA320 - ALARM install to USB ?

Postby teakian » Tue Dec 17, 2013 10:07 pm

So...Anyone had a procedure for this ?
The files available under http://os.archlinuxarm.org/os/nsa3x0/ appear to need to install directly onto a harddrive in the first sata slot.
I found the below but it stop short of getting it into installing uboot and let you set up on where to install the rest - something like installing on the POGO-E02 would be really nice!

No. It has been stated prior, that booting from USB is not supported by the stock u-boot, which is actually what we use.

Hi WarheadsSE, not sure what is the stock u-boot refer to but,
In your technical opinion, after acquiring a rootshell on the NSA320, would the steps from POGO-E02 starting at:
cd /tmp
wget http://jeff.doozan.com/debian/uboot/ins ... ot_mtd0.sh
chmod +x install_uboot_mtd0.sh
./install_uboot_mtd0.sh
and so on would work or at least won't brick the box ?

Thanks!

you won't brick it because the script won't allow you to flash new u-boot. If you bypass the checks you will brick it.

Got it...the Zyxel's uboot doesn't do usb bootings, and the current distribution only minimally changed the uboot to boot to HDD. So, to boot from usb on this device I'd need to install a non-stock uboot or use the provided distro with a HDD with the possibility of it being still unreliable ? What's the percentage on this ?

Hey guys me again so i recently bought a Zyxel NSA320 and installed archlinuxarm (your guide failed, serial was needed to fix, really should be a notice that the install script is unreliable)

Also, WarheadsSE - did you have a DavyGravy sources since last year ? I found related post on http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,7806 and wondered if any one had good lucks with it...

No. None. I asked, never received.

It is not happening. Period. Cope.
