GoFlex Install

Postby sweetthdevil » Tue Mar 24, 2015 1:39 pm

Hi all,

So I am busy installing Arch on my GoFlex Home, but I run into issue and decided to plug the hard drive directly on my desktop to format it and run the installation from there.

I am at the stage to run ./goflexhome.sh and have the feeling it will obviously not work as intended and most likely messed up my current desktop boot system.

What would be the best course of action now? I have the feeling I tried to be too clever ....

Edit: I looked at the script ( I have bare minimum understanding of bash ) I have the MAC address of the GoFlex

Thanks for your reply.

I gather that but in my case can start the goflex with the install I currently have?

Look for the portions that handle the bootloader. Those can only be run on the device.

Again thank you for your reply.

The question there is with the way I ha e done it - I will give you it was most likely stupid - will the goflex boot with the current arch files on it for me to log onto it and execute the script.

And if not, is there a solution to restore it or gain access to it to finish the install?

Got the drive back on the GoFlex - it booted has normal and then I executed the script - Simple as that...

Now will have to configure it the way I want, thanks for your help.

Grrr...

Got arch up and running, was starting to set it up but while installing pyload I run into an error due to tmp running out of space.

May I suggest that the installation guide be amended to reflect the need to create a Swap partition.

So I deleted /dev/sda2 - created a sawp partion of 1GB /dev/sda3 and created another partion /dev/sda2 with the rest.

Amended the /etc/fstab and then rebooted.

Now the GoFlex is booting and showing up on my router (same ip) but I got a ssh "Connection Refused"

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 's')sh: connect to host 192.168.0.4 port 22: Connection refused

Also tried to ssh with the old ssh line - but no success.
Any tips on gaining the connection back?

You would need serial to find out why. Or connect the drive to your desktop running any linux with systemd to read journal. Reinstall is an option too. You can mask tmp.mount so tmp is not mounted in tmpfs (ram).

Thanks for your reply.

Will most likely plug it onto my desktop tomorrow - running archlinux.

May I ask what is serial, or what do you mean by that?
