[SOLVED] rpi wifi channel 13 again

Postby replabrobin » Mon May 30, 2016 2:49 pm

After reading that wifi channel 13 should now be working in the rpi3 I tried with the latest 4.4.11 kernel from arch, but no luck.

I then tried the latest raspbian which has a 4.4.9 kernel. There I can see that both channels 12 & 13 are working (using sudo iw list) and indeed I set that NetworkManager can see my access point.

Scanned some posts for info what might be missing and saw only that

sudo iw reg set GB

should work or alternatively I should configure country=GB in the wpa_supplicant.conf file

I tried both of these and neither seems to make any difference.

Does anybody know how to get the rpi3 to see channels 12 & 13?

I tried the following possibly stupid experiment. I transferred the raspbian kernel7.img, the lib/modules/4.4.9+, lib/modules/4.4.9-v7+ files and the firmware files lib/firmware/brcm/ brcmfmac43430-sdio.txt brcmfmac43430-sdio.bin from the debian setup to the arch sd card.

This hacked alarm did boot, but even though I appeared to be using the debian 4.4.9 kernel and modules I was unable to use channels 12/13. So I guess this eliminates a kernel build setting.

Still unable to use my preferred wifi channel.

OK I solved this now. I had to install crda and then edit /etc/conf.d/wireless-regdom to ensure that WIRELESS_REGDOM="GB" was uncommented. Now I can see 13 channels :)
