ssh unresponsive after update

I've just ran sudo pacman -Syyu and after running my shell became unresponsive. I was able to do a clean reboot and was unable to access ssh. I did a clean shutdown and reboot and got into ssh but system is slow. It seems to be a bit better now but still not running as responsively as usual. Could one of the package updates be the cause. I updated fontconfig, mesa and mesa.libgl.
