Pacman -Syu, now a lot of apps seg fault

Postby eben » Sun Oct 30, 2016 10:53 pm

I've got an Asus chromebook flip, it's awesome.

I'm not so sure about Arch as it's issues upon issues. I finally managed to get it into a reasonable state, then I did the pacman -Syu

When I try to start xfce4-terminal for instance it segfaults with the error:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'The subsystem type is not supported yet')

After some googling it seems that it has something to do with libdrm (maybe)!?

I somehow suspect that it might have to do with the new kernel that got flashed, if I flash an older kernel (from the image that I installed it) and run depmod, everything goes side ways.

Is there a simple way to fix this or am I in for a lot of pain with trial and error?

Please tell me in the 10+ years that I rejected linux because of pain, that things have improved...

I'll answer myself.

Someone added an RC for mesa and mesa-libgl which caused all the dramas. The issue is now resolved...
