[fixed] UDOO Quad USB Problems with Kernel 4.8.x

Postby pklaus » Tue Nov 01, 2016 7:31 am

Hello,
since upgrading to any 4.8.x kernel, I'm having issues to get my attached USB devices detected. None of them show up in the kernel log. It just doesn't work. I have to downgrade to the 4.7.6-1-ARCH kernel ( /var/cache/pacman/pkg/linux-armv7-4.7.6-1-armv7h.pkg.tar.xz ) from October 2nd to make it work again. The two kernel logs (via `dmesg`) for the old working and the new failing kernels can be found in this Github Gist: https://gist.github.com/pklaus/fa7e065e ... 24c5a5d6ba if that helps to debug the issue. I was comparing them with Meld (and I had to click on "Keep Highlighting" to make it not give up half-way).
Is there anything else I can do to help figuring out what went wrong?
Best,
Philipp

I tried the latest 4.8.11 kernel, and the problem is still there.
Also a fresh installation, performed downloading http://os.archlinuxarm.org/os/ArchLinuxARM-armv7-latest.tar.gz, has the same problem.
As posted by pklaus, the only solution is to downgrade to the 4.7.6 linux kernel, but this is not possible when you are starting with a fresh installation.

Nice! It seems like the problem is solved with the latest 4.9.x kernel:
linux-armv7-4.9.0-1-armv7h.pkg.tar.xz

I don't know who fixed it but I'm very grateful to that person!
