[SOLVED] Raspberry Pi Weston on Mesa + VC4

Postby WebReflection » Fri Nov 18, 2016 8:42 am

Hello there, I wonder if there's any ETA for a wayland weston package that uses mesa VC4 drivers instead of a raspberry-backend.so like it is now in weston-rpi.

Thank You!

Reason I've been asking: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page= ... s-RPi-Code

Also because curent build is not compatible, for some reason, with xdg_shell.

Anyone with a clue?

Hi,

As mentioned in the Phoronix article you should enable the vc4 driver in config.txt and use std. weston. Right now I am answering from a Wayland session in sddm. It is usable. Gtk3 applications work well, Qt5 do not work well with this driver in Wayland nor in Xorg. Trying to sort it out.

thanks !!!

out of curiosity, is the overlay I should enable the vc4-kms-v3d one?

If I add that, is there any specific package I should install too? like ... something kms specific?

Cheers

btw, I just enabled the overlay and it seems to be OK (weston starts) but it's not as good as it's on Raspbian.

Is there anything else missing? Mesa complains it cannot recognize the device and GDK is unable to create a GL context (aka: no HW acceleration)

what am I missing? Thanks again
