Mate-menu for gtk2

Postby mattgin » Thu Oct 27, 2016 5:11 am

mate-menu used to be in the AUR, but after it was brought to the official repositories, mate-panel-gtk3 has been a dependency required to install mate-menu. I am running mate (gtk2 version) and cannot install mate-menu. If someone has the earlier gtk2 version, could they send me the pkg.tar.xz file? I use an armv7h architecture. Or is there a way to make a PKGBUILD of the newest mate-menu file that does not have mate-panel-gtk3 as a dependency?

AFAIK, now that MATE is in the official repos, and the MATE team is moving everything to GTK3, the dependency is accurate.

Have you re-checked the rest of the related packages?

just share,, if you need mate-menu for gtk2,, you can use my forked and modified mate-menu

I fork it from mate-menu on bitbucket at 5.7.0 tag

I modified it just to make it look simpler

https://github.com/mekatronik-achmadi/achmadi-menu

but seeing last comment date,, I think you already solve the problem,, sorry

don't forget to add "dbus-update-activation-environment --systemd --all" to your bash init file,, so mate-menu can get all environment variables
