[SOLVED] First Time Installation Question

Postby dcbdbis » Wed Feb 15, 2017 11:41 pm

Device: Samsung SM-T217S

I'll read how to root this device and wipe it before I install. My question is:

How do you operate the keyboard? Does the virtual keyboard reside in BIOS/Hardware? Or ?

Once I root it and install, how do I interact with this device?

Thanks!

Dave

PS: I use Arch x64 on my desktop so I am familiar and comfortable with Arch Linux.

Samsung Galaxy Tab (1?)
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy ... ASPR-specs

Unknown processor, or any availability of a serial UART for debugging/bring up.

Keyboard: virtual keyboards are entirely software. It is no where else but inside the operating system, and specifically the graphical environment.

Installation: at the moment, entirely unsupported.

It's a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.

So am I to understand that if I install Linux on this thing, I will have no way of interacting with it? How are others interacting with their rooted/linux'd previously Android Tablets?

SSH through the wireless?

Thanks!

That is not installing Linux to replace Android, this is installing Linux inside Android.

Thank you for the clarification.

Between this post, and other reading I have done - if I root the Android device and flash Linux on it. I have essentially shot myself in the foot as I would have no way to interact with the device.

I was going down the wrong path....

Thanks for your help.
