[rpi2] bsdtar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute

Postby vo6oh3 » Thu Mar 02, 2017 12:45 pm

I am trying to install ArchLinuxARM on my raspberry pi 2. When I try to extract the file system, I am getting the following error

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
bsdtar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute
bsdtar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute
bsdtar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute
bsdtar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute
bsdtar: Error exit delayed from previous errors.
')

I have checked the md5sum already. I'm on ubuntu 16.04. Please help. Thank you.

Having the same issue here, is the domain hijacked?. because the md5sum doesn't even match file. I'm not installing with this file, that's for sure.

Please provide the checksums you are seeing, and the file sizes, in bytes.

I only see some warnings on some directories, not on the files you're seeing.

Also seeing this error. I'm attempting to install via PINN. Download appears to come in fine, but it hangs for a while when the download/install reaches 100%. Then a dialog pops up with basically the same information in the original post.

I was able to successfully install Raspbian from the same PINN install, so not all distros are affected. I'd very much like to install Arch, so any help is appreciated.

EDIT with details:
Raspberry Pi 3 Model B
PINN v2.3
Appears to download latest Arch 2 release
Downloaded via built-in WiFi
8GB SD card
2.5A power supply

EDIT 2 with screenshot of error: [ http://pasteboard.co/L49hsqKW0.jpg ]

Any progress on this error? I'm facing the same problem:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '# bsdtar -xpf ArchLinuxARM-rpi-latest.tar.gz -C root
bsdtar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute
bsdtar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute
bsdtar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute
bsdtar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute
bsdtar: Error exit delayed from previous errors.')

MD5 is correct
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '# md5sum ArchLinuxARM-rpi-latest.tar.gz
f082fc63bc76be56c7d19127d2f6a0fa ArchLinuxARM-rpi-latest.tar.gz')

bsdtar version (Ubuntu trusty):
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '# bsdtar --version
bsdtar 3.1.2 - libarchive 3.1.2')

I've tried also downloading ArchLinuxARM-rpi-2-latest.tar.gz for RPi2, but I get the same error

The problem seems to be the tar.gz file, it seems that is has been generated with invalid options?
I've downloaded the image from sourceforge and copied it with dd to my sdcard ... everything ok

Wanted to point out, that I just did all these steps again, and have had _no_ issues what so ever when extracting to an ext4 filesystem. With the rpi and rpi-2 tarballs, as shown below.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
[root@beast extra]# bsdtar -xpf ArchLinuxARM-rpi-2-latest.tar.gz -C t
[root@beast extra]# echo $?
0

[root@beast extra]# rm -rf t
[root@beast extra]# mkdir t
[root@beast extra]# bsdtar -xpf ArchLinuxARM-rpi-latest.tar.gz -C t
[root@beast extra]# echo $?
0
[root@beast extra]# md5sum ArchLinuxARM-rpi-*
fd582acfb508718a634246628806122a ArchLinuxARM-rpi-2-latest.tar.gz
f082fc63bc76be56c7d19127d2f6a0fa ArchLinuxARM-rpi-latest.tar.gz
')

Seems like I only messages I have mentioned when I do this on tmpfs..
