Raspberry Pi 3 U-Boot Installation Guide Request

Postby suthernfriend » Thu Apr 27, 2017 10:12 am

Hello guys,

for months i'm trying to get network boot running on our pis (around 300 now,
growing to 1500 at some point).
The official solution isn't working because of our switches. (d-link / link negotiation problems)

Anyways for me U-Boot seams to be the solution.
But i have no real idea how to setup.

I tried out the 64bit image and it was working fine with U-Boot. However there
were other problems with drivers for devices connected to the pis.

I tried installing uboot-raspberrypi - replacing linux-raspberrypi but after boot
i only have the "shitty" splashscreen.

So my question now is:
Am I missing something, and can somebody provide me info on how I can get it set up.

Thanks ahead,
Jan

uboot-raspberrypi does not replace linux-raspberrypi, it conflicts with it. You can't use uboot with that package. You'll need to switch to linux-armv7 which is the kernel.org mainline kernel.

replaced linux-raspberrypi with linux-armv7.

im running it now in chroot on my workstation.
boot.txt and boot.scr seams fine / ifaik

anything else to setup / configure / maybe config.txt ?
