Default Root pwrd not being accepted

Postby arj8138 » Sun May 28, 2017 5:19 am

Hi all,

Im trying my hand at a home web server and its been about a decade since i've done anything with linux so I am beyond rusty

I successfully got archlinux ARM installed via your helpful link here https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5/pogoplug-v2-pinkgray and at the bottom it says the new default password for root will be root

when I SSH back into the pogo plug [checking my local IP address since it did change after install] it will not accept root as the pwrd for root

it DOES accept alarm/alarm so that leads me to believe that it has been successfully installed

any idea what might be happening here?

I did a little more digging and found that if I log in as alarm/alarm then do a su command it pops me into root

ssh root login is disabled by default - you will have to enable it manually.

It is strongly suggest that you login with alarm via ssh, and then `su` or `sudo`
