When compiling u-boot, the orangepi_one_defconfig should be replaced with orangepi_zero_defconfig

The instructions you've linked are for to install a mainline kernel. It looks like ethernet support for the AllWinner H2+ and H3 will be added in the upcoming 4.13 version. http://sunxi.org/Linux_mainlining_effort#Status_Matrix
So for now, it seems there is no support in manline yet.

If you have a known working distro, you could copy it's kernel and modules over to the archlinux SD card and instruct u-boot to load that kernel instead.

I have a working setup here. You may follow the adventure @ https://github.com/ubitux/archlinuxarm-orangepi_zero

When 4.13 is released and the 2 small u-boot patches are mainlined, I suppose an ArchLinuxARM could add Orange Pi support.

@uxalarm with the latest update, you can extract the files from the 4.13-rc7 kernel download, copy them over the file system of the sd card, and you get a working ethernet. No need to even have a serial cable. Thanks for getting everything to work! The only other change was to add IgnorePkg = linux-armv7 in my /etc/pacman.conf so the kernel doesn't get overwritten by any pacman updates.

@uxalarm Thanks for those scripts, they are working perfectly!.

I'm reading here and there seeing that the OPi Zero has some thermal issues, at least with the official images. People can check that using the armbianmonitor command shipped with those images.

I'm trying to get the CPU temp info from various files used by that utility but none of them exists so i think there is no module loaded for that matter. So far i have tried installing lm_sensors (which totally failed when running sensros-detect) and have looked for these files:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp # thermal directory is empty
cat /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp # virtual directory is empty
')

Also i don't see any file related with CPU frequency.

Do you know which module(s) do i have to load in order to get this files populated for the H2+?

Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, I got mine working. Thanks a lot @uxalarm for the great guide and @robm for the suggestions.
It took me quite some time to get it to work very cleanly (didn't have a serial interface), so I published an image writeable directly to SD card, if you want to get up and running quickly, don't want to build a toolchain etc. Also made a custom motd to remind people that the kernel version is pinned to 4.13-rc7 for the time being in this image.

It is available here:
- GitHub page: https://github.com/nguiard/archlinux-orange-pi-zero
- Direct image link: https://dl.ng3.io/opz/ArchLinuxARM-OrangePiZero-20171120.img.xz

@jjdive I don't have any info about your question sadly, but I would like to know too.
Also, do you guys have any info on when a newer kernel might support ethernet on the Orange Pi Zero?
