Pogoplug E02 - BSDTAR problem while installing

Postby vasanthtcs » Mon Nov 06, 2017 4:13 am

I will start with saying I am not a unix expert but proficient enough to follow instructions.

I have been extensively using Archlinux on my PogoPlug E02 till 2016. My USB drive where I had the alarm installation went bad and I am unable to boot to alarm.

However I am now attempting to do a fresh installation of alarm on a new USB drive on pogoplug E02. I am following the steps from https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv ... 2-pinkgray

I am stuck at the step where bsdtar is extracting the Archlinux Tar
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', './bsdtar -xpf ArchLinuxARM-kirkwood-latest.tar.gz')

I am getting errors $this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'bsdtar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute')

Based on very little information available on forums I found that I will need bsdtar 3.3+ . The bsdtar currently made available for pogoplug is only 3.1 and is available at http://os.archlinuxarm.org/os/pogoplug/bsdtar

Any idea how I can get bsdtar 3.3 for pogoplug ? I dont think I will be able to recompile the latest bsdtar package using 'make' on my pogoplug.

Any help is appreciated.

A bump for this post.

I had a very old arch on my E02, followed the instructions and ....

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'Pogoplug:/tmp/alarm$ ./bsdtar -xpf ArchLinuxARM-kirkwood-latest.tar.gz
bsdtar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute
./usr/bin/ping: Cannot restore extended attributes on this file system
bsdtar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute
./usr/bin/rlogin: (null)
bsdtar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute
./usr/bin/rsh: (null)
bsdtar: Ignoring malformed pax extended attribute
./usr/bin/rcp: (null)
bsdtar: Error exit delayed from previous errors.
')

Any ideas? I really would like my server back :)

Ta.
