bind-tools for arm

Postby kriztioan » Thu Jun 20, 2019 1:26 am

bind-tools has (silently?) been removed for arm. The last time bind-tools was available in the 'extra'-repo it seems, per http://tardis.tiny-vps.com/packages/b/bind-tools/, at version 9.13.3-3 (bind-tools-9.13.3-3-arm.pkg.tar.xz from Oct. 30 2018). I had installed that version at the time but only noticed now it stopped working as some of the 'dig' and 'host' command line tools' dependencies were updated. bind-tools for aarch64, armv6h and armv7h are available in the 'extra'-repo per https://archlinuxarm.org/packages and are at version 9.14.2. Can bind-tools for arm be reinstated?

I think your mirror is out-of-date or something...
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '% pacman -Ss bind-tools

@graysky Running the suggested command on my system unfortunately returns nothing. For clarity, I'm talking about the armv5-version here; I suspect you are running on another architecture (arch64, armv6h or armv7h). When searching for 'bind-tools' on https://archlinuxarm.org/packages it doesn't show a package for arch=arm, however it does for aarch64, armv6h and armv7h.

In short, bind-tools-9.14.3-1-arm.pkg.tar.xz is simply not in the repository.

My bad, yes, my output was from armv7h.

@moonman Works like a charm! The 'host' and 'dig' commands work again as expected :D Much appreciated! Am I to presume this build will make it into the (extra-)repository?

Not necessarily, I just wanted to see why it wasn't in the repos, but it compiled OK. Then I found this Pull Request: https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs/pull/1709
