So, I ran the script to install Jeff's rescue system again, in case the original was corrupted. It failed with this:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '# Installing Rescue System

This is the environment variable for mtdparts:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'mtdparts=mtdparts=orion_nand:1M(u-boot),-(rootfs)')

So, I see that Jeff's rescue system installs a uImage file in mtd1 and a rootfs in mtd2. The current u-boot seems to have a rootfs in mtd1 and nothing in mtd2. Is the current u-boot supposed to fail over to the rootfs in mtd1 and is that different from Jeff's rescue system? Should I define a different mtdparts variable with 3 mtd partitions? Clearly, I'm confused about how this is supposed to work.

OK! I installed that rescue system and everything looks good now! Now I can upgrade my other pogos and get everything up to date. Thanks much for your help!
