Problem set RT3390STA in master mode?

Postby wlightw » Thu Jun 09, 2011 1:57 pm

Pogoplug Pro.. installed rt3390sta driver for the internal wireless module. wireless worked fine in adhoc or managed mode and would like to set to master mode and serve as home AP.

couple problems,

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[root@Arch Linux ARM install modules]# lsmod
Module Size Used by
rt3390sta 1111860 1
mac80211 145648 0
cfg80211 87152 1 mac80211
iptable_filter 2856 0
ip_tables 11716 1 iptable_filter
x_tables 15412 1 ip_tables
gmac 40380 0
mii 6100 1 gmac
')

1. cannot use iw to check ra0 info
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[root@Arch Linux ARM install modules]# iw ra0 info
command failed: No such device (-19)')

2. cannot use iwconfig to set master mode
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '# iwconfig ra0 mode master
Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
SET failed on device ra0 ; Invalid argument.')

any suggestions?

Grab the driver's source package from pogoplug.com and check out the readme files. They explain all the commands needed for each mode, and what is available.

Read that already.. my understanding is master mode cannot be set on the card?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'Features:
==========
This driver implements basic IEEE802.11. Infrastructure and adhoc mode with
open or shared or WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK authentication method.
NONE, WEP, TKIP and AES encryption. ')

Between that and the iwconfig usage txt, I believe master mode is not possible in that package as is.
