RPI 3B fails with 7 blinks on green while booting

My RPI 3B fails after the recent kernel update. It's a "Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2 with 1GB".
Systems doesn't come online, just gives seven blinks on green.

I suspect the following packages yield a problem ...

- raspberrypi-bootloader-20230310-1
- linux-rpi-6.1.16-3-aarch64

Same SD-Card runs fine on Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.5 with 8GB.
Has anybody else seen this on the RPI 3B?

Hello,

after updating the package raspberrypi-bootloader from version 20230302-1 to 20230310-1 my raspberry pi model 3 b+ does not boot anymore. The activity led is blinking 7 times, what means, that the kernel.img cannot be found. The installed kernel is linux-rpi-6.16-3-aarch64, so the architecture of my system is aarch64. As mentioned above the previous version does not have any problem in booting the installed kernel version. So maybe there is something wrong with the latest bootloader firmware.

Same problem. Now my RPI 3 B+ not booting, stucked with color screen, 7 green blinks.

Is there any way to manually revert bootloader or something like that?

You can temporarily fix it by rolling back to the previous bootloader release.

Just use a phone or computer to extract the package over your boot directory (FAT partition root). Specifically, start.elf, fixup.dat, bootcode.bin needs to be overwritten, atleast.

I booted linux-rpi 6.1.16-3 on bootloader version 20221212 that way.

Also, try config option arm_64bit=1 as suggested in the github issue. I still have to check if it works with the latest kernel and bootloader version.

Raspberry Pi have published fixes for both issues in their repos today.

In linux repo, the rpi-6.1.y has been rebased on top of 6.1.19.

And the firmware repo, has an fix so the bootloader will use the kernel8.img

Just need to wait for the new kodi-rpi and firmware packages.
