wpa_supplicant broken

Postby df8oe » Fri Aug 23, 2024 6:14 am

As onmake_clickable_callback(MAGIC_URL_LOCAL, ' ', 'https://archlinuxarm.org/forum', 'viewtopic.php?f=60&t=17006', ' class="postlink-local"') already stated recent wpa_supplicant is broken. No WIFI connection possible. I can only find version 2.10-5 via "downgrade" command, which is not working, too. Is there any fix for this issue or a possibility to get working 2.10-8?

I know this link. But wpa_supplicant ends there with 2.9-8 which is much outdated. I am looking for 2.10-8.

Very interesting, thank you. This gives another question:
I have installed yay package "downgrade" which helped me much on all of my archlinux systems (x86_64, too). This tool seems to use the "packages" subdirectory and not the "repos" subdirectory. And in "packages" wpa_supplicant's latest version ends with 2.10-5, in "repos's" subdirectory it ends with the one I am looking for (2.10-8). So downgrade tool cannot provide latest version. Have I configured "downgrade" wrong or is "packages subdirectory" not as it should be?

Problem is solved now, thank you for your help. But now I want to understand why "downgrade" does not offer all available possibilities...

I just spent a few hours trying to figure out why a pacman -Syu killed wifi on my pi zero 2w. I just installed wpa_supplicant-2:2.10-8-aarch64.pkg.tar.xz frommake_clickable_callback(MAGIC_URL_FULL, ' ', 'http://ftp.tku.edu.tw/Linux/ArchLinux-arm/aarch64/core/', '', ' class="postlink"') (I recommend trying to find an https enabled mirror) and got my wifi back.

That was fun.

Is there a way to mask this broken wpa_supplicant (2.11-2)?

To mask the update I had to add

IgnorePkg = wpa_supplicant

into the file /etc/pacman.conf.

FWIW I can confirm this problem with rpi5 both in latest archlinuxarm and also armtix. Diagnosis is made harder by NetworkManager seeming to leave the starting wpa_supplicant running as a daemon even when the package is updated and nm restarted.

At any rate I confirm that 2:2.10-8 works and 2:2.11-2 has the authorization issue (at least for aarch64 rpi5).

Has anyone thought to raise this issue upstream. If not can someone suggest where it can be raised. I looked at the mailing list and perhaps this issue is already raised here https://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/hostap/2024-August/042893.html

Where can I find the older version (2:2.10-8) It isn't in the archive and for some reason I can't view the PKGBUILDS in archlinuxarm.org so I cant compile myself.
Thanks, rellieberman

Did you not notice the link above? I looked and the package is there

http://tardis.tiny-vps.com/aarm/repos/2024/06/25/aarch64/core/ I am able to down load it. Alternatively look in the arch linux package builds at the 2.2.10 revision and hack the PKGBUILD.
