I created our own iscsitarget package for the time being, using a checkout of their subversion repository, since the released tarballs don't play nice with 2.6.37. That build is in the pipeline behind a handful of others, but should be available tomorrow in the testing repository.

If you're not already running on testing, here is the post describing how to switch.

Then just pacman -S iscsitarget-svn

This package incorporates both the kernel modules (compiled against latest 2.6.37.1 in testing) and userspace utilities. It's the same source and files that other distributions use, so my previously mentioned guide on howtoforge is applicable. I haven't tested this myself, so I have no idea if it even works, or how well. Any feedback you can give me on it would be great.

Hello! I wanted to try out the iSCSI target but when I was trying to run it using $this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '/etc/rc.d/iscsi-target start') it produces the following error: $this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'F')ATAL: Module iscsi_trgt not found.

It seems that the kernel module is not working with the current kernel any more. I run the following version: $this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[root@Arch Linux ARM ~]# uname -a
Linux Arch Linux ARM 2.6.38 #1 PREEMPT Thu Apr 21 11:14:23 MDT 2011 armv5tel Feroceon 88FR131 rev 1 (v5l) Seagate GoFlex Home GNU/Linux
')

--edit-- (2011-05-02 17:48)
I had a look into the installation package and yes, the kernel module is not up to date:
iscsitarget-svn-401-1-arm.pkg.tar.xz: lib/modules/2.6.37/extra/iscsi/iscsi_trgt.ko

Arghh...
Now there is an updated file: iscsitarget-svn-453-1-arm.pkg.tar.xz (2011-06-10) in the repository which is built for 2.6.38 but at the same time I updated the kernel to 2.6.39.1-1 . So again no testing possible. Is there a safe way to use the older kernel in order to be able to test the iscsitarget package?

iscsitarget has been rebuilt for .39, pacman -Syu and it should upgrade.

I don't suppose there's a way of getting this to work on an oxnas box, given they're currently stuck with an older kernel?

It requires kernel config options to be enabled for iSCSI. If those are available for .31 you can certainly recompile the kernel with those options, and then build the package against that kernel.

Hi
could someone rebuilt iscsitarget for 3.0-ARCH. Or give me a hint to do it by myself.
Thanks a lot for your support!

I'll get it rebuilt. Some layout changes that came with the new kernel package need to be propagated into the iscsitarget build.

I can't find iscsitarget in ARM repositories. Is it still there, can it be updated to ArchLinux 3.5.2 ?

You must be determined to open every old topic on the forum.

IET has been superceded by the LIO iSCSI target core in the kernel for 3.2+, managed by targetcli and lio-utils.
