Minidlna issues

Postby Justmike » Mon Oct 03, 2011 7:47 pm

So here is my rub. I have a v3 that works well thus far, the one thing that is giving me a headache is minidlna. I had a pro that I set up samba, transmission, webmin which all worked well. I couldn't get my Xbox to see the minidlna. I fought and thought maybe it was the unit so I returned it. Picked up a v3 for cheap. Got everything working again except minidlna.

Here is a look at what I have on my end.

Router 192.168.1.1
Plug 192.168.1.8 (static)
Xbox 192.168.1.5

The gaps in numbers are from various phones and laptops on my network.

I have the port set to 8200
Uncommented the network interface line
Presentation set to be http://192.168.1.8:8200/
All my shares are set up correctly.

What gives? What am I missing. I have been reading for over a week now and still have issues, so it's got to be something simple.

I really must be missing something here. Still no love.

First question, Comment out network_interface line?
Given the information in the first post what should my "presentation" url be?

The program is working and finding my media according to the log files. Any ideas why its not being seen by the xbox?

Check there is not a permission problem in /var/cache/minidlna
Stop minidlna, delete all files in there, and start again

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'port=8200
#network_interface=eth0
media_dir=/root/Downloads
friendly_name=Dockstar
db_dir=/var/cache/minidlna
album_art_names=Cover.jpg/cover.jpg/AlbumArtSmall.jpg/albumartsmall.jpg/AlbumArt.jpg/albumart.jpg/Album.jpg/album.jpg/Folder.jpg/folder.jpg/Thumb.jpg/thumb.jpg
inotify=yes
enable_tivo=no
strict_dlna=no
presentation_url=http://192.168.2.239:8200/
notify_interval=900
serial=12345679
model_number=1')

Thanks for the help, but still no love. I copied the conf file and just changed the numbers to match my network, but the Xbox till isn't seeing it. I know its not the xbox because it picks up STMBO's laptop an well any my phone and tablet.

I have have figured out a work around that involves the Plug as a samba share that my tablet see then it feeds it via a hdmi cable to the TV. Hey it works.

Thanks again
