ZyXEL NSA325

The ZyXEL NSA325 is a desktop server in a clean package. It has two internal 3.5" SATA bays, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 USB 3.0 port, gigabit ethernet, and internal smart fan. This Kirkwood family member also sports 512MB of ram and has a battery-backed real time clock on-board. It is the bigger, faster brother to the NSA320.

Both v1 and v2 boards are supported, as despite their appearance, the internals are identical.

This process will format the bare, unparitioned HDD in the left slot (sda, ide 0:1) with an ext2 boot partition, ext3 rootfs partition, and set the for the device to boot from it.

  1. Download installer tar appropriate for your device from here
  2. Extract to FAT partitioned USB key
  3. Download the kirkwood rootfs rename to 'rootfs.tgz'
  4. Copy to the USB key
  5. Place HDD in left slot, USB key into a rear USB port, power on the device.
  6. Wait for LEDs to settle. This process may take some time while your disk is formatted and the file system extracted.
    • Login as the default user alarm with the password alarm.
    • The default root password is root.
