Is my Seagate Goflex Home death?

Postby andersonandernet » Fri Jul 06, 2012 11:12 pm

Hi,

I have a Seagate Goflex Home 3TB and when I was installing Archlinux (http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5 ... oflex-home), I had a power off problem.

Now I Goflex home has a blinking light green and does not get an IP address.

I tried to make a factory reflash (http://support.goflexhome.hipserv.com/e ... index.html) but nothing. I waited about 15 minutes.

Is there a way to create an USB Pendrive with Linux that I can use to recover my GFH?

It is not a problem to lost all info.

I don't have a USB/Serial cable or USB adapter.

Thank you.

You can create a USB drive, just format it as ext3, name the formatted partition "rootfs" and extract the latest 1rmv5te rootfs to it as root

Hi,

I create a dbootable USB Pendrive and I can connect to GFH using SSH but without an attached harddrive. If I attached my 3TB harddrive, GFH only shows me blinking light green and doesnt get an IP address.

Thank you again.

If you boot with usb, you should be able to attach the sata afterwards and fix the install on it.

Hi Thank You!

I recovered my GFH with a new fresh arch linux installation.

I reformated my 3TB harddisk using parted (not fdisk):

Model: Seagate ST3000DM001-9YN1 (scsi)
Disk /dev/sda: 3001GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: gpt

Number Start End Size File system Name Flags
1 17.4kB 3001GB 3001GB ext2

But I made a test using original GFH boot:

# Restore original uBoot
wget http://jeff.doozan.com/debian/uboot/fil ... iginal.kwb
flash_erase /dev/mtd0 0 4
nandwrite /dev/mtd0 uboot.mtd0.dockstar.original.kwb

And it does not recognize my harddisk. I always receive this message: No Storage Device Present.

What is original GHF 3TB partition distribution?

Thank you
