My GoFlex Home is unwell

Postby BrianM » Sat Sep 29, 2012 2:50 pm

Hi,
After months of stable operation, I made the mistake (prior to doing other file maintenance) of doing a Pacman upgrade.
I suffered the glibc error, but depsite trying to follow posts here (answering N to do you want to update pacman itself) I got the "error nothing changed" scenario.
Following other instructions, I tried to remedy with no luck.
I then tried to do a complete system restore using the Seagate Firmware reset, but that didn't work. (The Reset Button option appears to not work - no white light.) Indeed that process merely seemed to break the ability to boot from the USB.
However, with the original TB drive and an test small drive (120Gb) I am getting a green light, and can access via the 10.10.10.5 Uboot monitor. (Txt of log attached)
If anyone can guide me through restoring this (being the Linux noobie, but old PC hack that I am) I'd be most grateful.
Thanks
Brian

Your U-Boot is intact. Just follow the link in my signature to reinstall.

Thanks moonman.
I'm just unpacking the latest release (again) onto (another) USB drive. (BTW this drive wouldn't automount in Ubuntu 0 - had to manually mount). Will try and boot from this ASAP

FWIW I rebuilt the rootfs on the original Seagate drive and it boots (gets green light) but I don't know what its default IP address (doesn't seem to want to do DHCP?)

OK, moonman, following your instructions has got me a successful USB boot. Many thanks.
I suspect that original unpacking was incomplete due to attempt to do it under windows...
Will now follow procedure onto original Seagate drive, and update here.

OK, GoFlex Home now up and running, back with Dynamic IP, which I'll restore, as well as other settings.
Thanks moonman for a simple instruction.

PS. What's the crack with Pacman not working still?
