Hi All,
I just recently ordered my Dockstar and wanting to install Archlinux on it. I have an 8GB USB drive to download and install Archlinux on the Dockstar. I will be using the following instructions from here: http://wiki.daviddarts.com/Debian_on_th ... e_Dockstar and here: http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5 ... e-dockstar
The problem is, neither one explains how to make a backup of the original image. The instructions off of this site does not mention anything about recovery like David Dart's wiki. So this leads to the following questions:
1. How do I backup my original image?
2. Does the instructions posted on the Archlinux website include the installation of recovery tools (features?) just in case the flash drive fails? If not, then should I use David Dart's instructions?
3. Assuming there is a recovery after installing the Archlinux using either the instructions on this site, if the main installation drive fails, that means I can use a new drive to install the OS via the same instructions posted here, correct?
4. On this site:http://projects.doozan.com/debian/ apparently one can keep the original PogoPlug image on the Dockstar and can boot to debian Linux. To go back to the stock image all one has to do is just remove the usb drive and power cycle the device, correct? If so, then are there any issues that I should be aware of?
Sorry for all of the questions, but after reading quite a few threads on here, I have a good idea of what I am getting into; however, most of the other threads with the details that I am looking for are sporadic at best. I am hoping by getting all of the answers to this one will help other folks out and save them a lot of time from having Google and search this site.
*Yes I did Google and searched this thread prior to posting.
