Just got a new GoFlex Home 3TB drive.
Following this guide:

I am stuck at step 11.
Really could use some help.

/dev/sda1 is apparently in use by the system; will not make a filesystem here!

Update: OK did NOT realize you have to reboot the device after step 10. That should be added to the guide!
Onto step 12 I am.
Update 2: OH my lord. SO I completed the guide and rebooted and now NO network access.
Only green light is on and purple light is out.
Just awesome, so I follow step by step and now im locked out. Great!
