Messed up the installation somehow....

I went through all the steps fine, until I got to step 8. After I ran

/sbin/reboot

It complained that the connection was lost. Made sense, as it rebooted. Then got confused, step 9 reads

The SSH key of your device will be different, so you need to tell Mac OS X or Linux to remove it from ~/.ssh/known_hosts before using SSH again:
ssh-keygen -R 192.168.1.123 # Use your device's IP

How am I supposed to run that command if I dont ssh into the pogoplug?

Now the pogo plug doesnt seem to be connecting to the internet, light on the front is orange, so Im not sure how to even ssh into it. Any advice?

Update, have no idea whats going on here. Removed USB drive that was connected to the back and rebooted. The pogoplug got back on line. Good!

Now I think something happened. When I ssh into the pogo now the command line now reads pogoplug, whereas before it read bash something something

All of the things you mentioned are fine.

When bootloader doesn't find a bootable USB drive it will start the OS from internal NAND. What you need now is setup netconsole and see why it doesn't boot with the flash drive.
