pacman command not found

Postby tttmack » Thu May 16, 2013 2:50 am

I am trying to do a fresh install of Arch Linux on a Pogo Plug v2 that I bought off of ebay with ArchLinux preinstalled.

I am trying to follow the instructions from http://obihoernchen.net/wordpress/770/p ... rch_linux/ and the first step is to run the command 'pacman -Syu' which is supposed to update ArchLinux. However I get the error 'bash: pacman: command not found'

I went into '/bin' and did not see pacman there. I downloaded the pacman tar file as described in this forum https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=11486 but can't do the 'make' command to install it as 'make' is also not installed.

I am a linux noob some any help would be greatly appreciated.

Follow the installation instructions here - http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5 ... 2-pinkgray

or following the tutorial in my signature.

Sounds like you booted into the Pogoplug OS versus the Arch Linux Arm installation on your flash drive. Typically you can tell by the (default) password - root (ALARM) or ceadmin. Try a 'reboot' command.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'uname -a')
If the response comes back without the word arch in it, you are not in Arch

thanks for your help, it looks like it was running a different linux variant (not pogoplug and not archlinux) and that is why the commands did not work. I followed the install steps and everything went well
