Is FTDI supported in the current kernel?

Postby cownamedpuppy » Sat Sep 07, 2013 6:34 am

I am trying to revive my soft-bricked PogoE02.
I connected a FTDI cable to the serial interface and was hoping to get some debug information but I am not seeing anything.

I read elsewhere on the forums that ftdi support needs to be compiled as a module with the kernel but I don't have that option given the device is in a nasty shape already.

Question - If I followed the guide here http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5/pogoplug-v2-pinkgray, should I expect FTDI to work without any modifications?

I already have a non-FTDI cable in the mail which will take a few weeks to arrive so I want to make sure if there is anything else I could do to revive my plug.

You only need the kernel module if you need to use the FTDI serial cable for the PP to control another device, not to control the PP.
