Possibly Bricked Seagate GoFlex Home

Postby chicagomed » Sun Oct 14, 2012 6:12 am

Hi All,

I'm sure you get this type of question a lot but forgive me as I'm a NOOB to this particular device.
I attempted to follow your instructions regarding the install of ALARM onto the GoFlex Home but
after the recommended system halt/reboot, I've lost all communication with the device. It doesn't
apppear to be getting an IP address (ARP entry is missing on my router). I've also tried creating an ARCH
boot image on USB but still no IP address (although I didn't try booting that image somewhere else first to
configure it).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
chicagomed

You can't boot the image on anything but >=armv5 device with U-boot. Fire up netconsole and see what it tells you. If it works, then you have correctly flashed bootloader. Just use your computer to install archlinux arm. Follow the link in my signature. Be sure to have the first partition labeled "rootfs" and that it is < 20GB. Also if you have a 3TB drive, you will need to look into hybrid mbr
