Wifi-Support on Pogo Plug Pro

Postby dinjo » Mon Nov 28, 2011 6:02 am

Does after installing Arch Linux on Pogo plug pro makes the wifi connectivity improved or degrades it ? Since i would also be using as a Wifi Device.

I can't speak to improvement or degradation, but the driver in the CE source packs does not support AP mode, as a heads up.

I don't want to use in AP mode, i was reading through Pogo Plug FAQ and it says you need to have Router which needs to be plugged to Pogo Plug can't just ethernet switch be used ? or I just plug my modem WAN cable to Pogoplug and then connect my pc to pogo plug for internet access, possible ?

Yes, if your router/modem has only one LAN connection, a switch can be used to provide extra ports. This is assuming your modem has router capabilities.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('dinjo', ' ')or I just plug my modem WAN cable to Pogoplug and then connect my pc to pogo plug for internet access, possible ?

Not a good idea here.

I do this, but I think I know what I'm doing. Who knows?

pepedog, are you doing this on a oxnas based system?

Forgive me, but it appears adding a second adapter, setting up *safe* routing (which isn't entirely available on the oxnas kernel), etc, is a little beyond this.

I thought you was referring to security of plug on external ip address, without experience.
No, running dockstars that way. Exactly whats missing in oxnas kernel?

Are you familiar with:
- linux
- iptables
- ipfilter
- routing
- complex network configurations

If not, this is not a good idea.
