HOWTO: Tomcat running on Arch

Postby TeamMCS » Sun Mar 11, 2012 12:40 pm

Hey guys,

I've been poking around for a while and I wanted to get Tomcat working on the Pogoplug. Thankfully it wasn't to rough so I documented it on my wiki: http://www.milesburton.com/Pogoplug_Pro ... g_Tomcat_6

Let me know if you have any questions

That's really neat, thanks for the howto! :D

One thing though, instead of hosting the JRE download yourself, you might want to link to the official Embedded JavaSE page at ...

No worries!

Oracle send you around the houses to get the JRE (I had to register etc) so I thought screw it I'll just host it. ;)

You should know that doing so does violate their license terms on redistribution. Oracle takes a very purely monetarily-based stance on embedded Java products, and this is likely to never change. I talked with two different sales reps regarding redistributing for this distribution, and it was a resounding no.. unless I wanted to enter into a licensing agreement (aka pay up).

If it was still Sun (one of the reps was a previous long-time Sun sales guy), there wouldn't be an issue at all.
