goflex home as diy squeezebox duet

Postby tritron » Thu May 24, 2012 2:00 am

I purchased goflex home base for 18$ and 2$ usb soundcard 1130:f211 Tenx Technology, Inc. TP6911 Audio Headset
I had 16GB ssd but many 16 to 32GB run for 30$ . I had installed archlinux and squeezeslave. I have logitech mediaserver running on my media server.
I can control my armsqueeze using any android device, windows 7 phone and web interface. So for 20$ i got device that cost 500$ from logitech
This is mine /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
options snd-usb-audio nrpacks=1
options snd-usb-audio index=0
')

I am using this /etc/asound.conf for perfect sound
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'pcm.!default {
type plug
slave.pcm "softvol"
}
pcm.dmixer {
type dmix
ipc_key 1024
slave {
pcm "hw:0"
period_time 0
period_size 4096
buffer_size 131072
rate 50000
}
bindings {
0 0
1 1
}
}
pcm.dsnooper {
type dsnoop
ipc_key 1024
slave {
pcm "hw:0"
channels 2
period_time 0
period_size 4096
buffer_size 131072
rate 50000
}
bindings {
0 0
1 1
}
}
pcm.softvol {
type softvol
slave { pcm "dmixer" }
control {
name "Master"
card 0
}
}
ctl.!default {
type hw
card 0
}
ctl.softvol {
type hw
card 0
}
ctl.dmixer {
type hw
card 0
}')

tritron,

Interesting project!

Is there a reliable way to identify the USB audio dongle you used? Or a link to where you purchased it?

If this was in response to my question, I meant to ask if there was a way to ID this before buying it since sellers are not always obliging with the part number!

Thanks

A little googling turned up this: https://sites.google.com/site/bifferboa ... ound-cards
Looks like the common ones you find on ebay advertised as "5.1CH 3D USB 2.0 Audio Sound Card Adapter" for $2 or so :)

I think similar models would probably work i.e. http://www.aigarius.com/blog/2010/02/10/usb-3d-sound/

This is a very cool idea and I'm thinking about trying it too! Thanks tritron.

I went and ordered a few in different shapes and sizes since they weren't that expensive and one was delivered yesterday. I'm going to put in in my Dockstar this weekend.

Once I figure out how to make it work, I will likely buy a plug computer with a form factor aceptable to my wife for regular use in a visible location :D
