[GoFlex] Problem with Serial console on my Seagate

Postby Balastix » Mon Aug 20, 2012 8:54 pm

Hi All !,

I just bought a Seagate, which is uploaded to flash Arch Linux. The previous owner attached USB Key with another linux, and HDD with Debian.I need to run OpenWRT on it, but there is a problem because serial console doesn't work. I use the cable from Nokia, which definitely works, I used it to flash the firmware to multiple routers. At this moment, I made that system won't boot from a flash drive (I played with blparam). Now system start only from USB Key or HDD.

My first question is why can I not run serial console?

And the second question, the space looks like
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'mtd0 - U-Boot
mtd1 - uImage
mtd2 - don't remember
mtd3 - root')

Can I install package mtd-tools on Debian and flash it like that ?
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'mtd0 - openwrt-kirkwood-dockstar-u-boot
mtd1 - openwrt-kirkwood-uImage
mtd2 - openwrt-kirkwood--jffs2-128k.img
mtd3 - data')

Please forgive me I'm new here and do not know English fluently...

Have you verified the serial is hooked up correctly?

If it doesn't come up with a console at that point, someone might have flashed the wrong uboot.

Basic good news though, you should be able to do whatever you need with the NAND inside Arch Linux ARM since it appears to boot.
