GoFlex Mount Help Please

Postby monkeyman » Mon Sep 03, 2012 10:39 am

Hi folks,

I've had a look though the forum and tried a few searches but can't find the solution to my problem.

I've installed archlinux on my 2TB GoFlex Home following the guide on the main site, and I thnk it's gone fine - I can ssh into it no problem. I can't seem to mount it onto my laptop though. (Running ubuntu)

I've tried a few different versions of
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'sudo mount -t //192.168.1.77/home /mnt/NAS')

and get the message
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'Retrying with upper case share name
mount error(6): No such device or address
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)
')

If anyone has any ideas or can point me in the direction of a walkthrough I would be grateful!

Consider installing and/or configuring Samba on GoFlex ;)

Is it NFS or SMB that you are trying to mount?

Thanks for the replies.

I tried setting both following the Samba guide in the support section and the NFS page on the ArchLinux wiki, but my Linux experience is limited and I'm struggling to make progress without a GUI

Setting Samba may be easier. At least it works for sure with latest ArchLinux release, and this site has a basic but sufficient guide to get it up and running. Not certain that NFS works though (not for me), or shows faster copying speed, which greatly depends on your Media drive file system type.

OK - thanks for that. Looks like I will be getting much more familiar with Samba!

I got NFS to work in the past but it isn't worth the hassle on these devices as you will still be limited to 30MB/s by USB interface.

What ArchLinux version you got working with NFS? Any special suggestions on making it work btw ArchLinux 3.5.2 and Win7 64-bit?
