For the POGOPLUG Series 4 serial connection you have to spot solder some small wires to the board. There are 4 pads in a line on the corner where the power plug and SD card slot.
Ground is close to the SD card slot then TX then RX .

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('beyondbuxton', 'I')'d be happy to write up how things go if it'd help the next person who winds up in this situation.

I'm in virtually the exact same situation here, but on a V3. I'm currently waiting on my USB>TTL adaptor to be delivered, so I can begin the recovery process myself. I've seen a few guides on accessing the unit via serial, but they don't really tell you what to do once you're in. Similar to yourself, I'll need to somehow get into my /etc/init.d/rcS file and undo the changes I made that broke it. I know how to do this via SSH, but I've never done this over serial--I hope it's possible.

Please let us know how you get on, and I'll do the same. Cheers!

Hi moonman.

I don't know how to access the onboard NAND though...? I bricked it by modifying the rcS, and now I can't SSH into it (pretty sure I disabled the SSH daemon). I hadn't yet even gotten to installing the new kernal for ArchLinuxArm, so my V3 is still pretty much factory except for the changes to the rcS file thanks to my stupidity.

Is there any other way I can get access to the rcS file on a mostly still unmodified V3?

Thanks in advance!

They are going to be different per device.

Oh, g'day WarheadSE.

What do you think is the deal here? Will I be able to edit the rcS file through a serial connection? When connecting via serial, is it a similar experience to when you connect via SSH? This is all new territory to me, so any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks very much.

Connecting via serial is pretty much identical to as if you sat at the console (aka keyboard & monitor) of an x86.

Awesome! Then I expect this will certainly get me where I need to be to fix the thing. Thanks WarheadsSE!

Nevermind my last post. I was thinking about a different thread when I posted it. I just re-read all the posts and realized it. Sorry for the confusion.
As WarheadsSE already said, you CAN use serial to recover, I mentioned it before I went kaput. :)
