I want to boot Linux-Kirkwwod 3.6.4-1 from the SD Card on the Pogoplug series 4. I know there is this:
http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,7477. Is there another way to do this without needing a serial cable?

I *think* you need that U-Boot that you linked to in order to be able to boot from sd and there's no other way. It has a drawback of not supporting sata drives at all. Maybe somebody who has PPv4 will confirm (or not).
