How to clone ArchLinuxArm setup?

Postby grayman4hire » Thu Nov 22, 2012 9:42 pm

Hello.

I would like to clone my Pogoplug arch linux setup.

Is it simple as copying the files on the usb drive from one to the other? What folders should I not copy? Thanks

We recommend using a full tar of an offline filesystem. Then simply change the /etc/hostname, and any service configs that create a hostname as well, such as samba/avahi.

Thanks for the reply WarheadsSE

When you say "offline filesystem," so stick the usb flash drive into another PogoPlug to make the tar?

What state should my destination usb drive be in? Just format it as ext2 and untar to it? Thanks

The filesystem should match whatever your bootloader expects. You can make and extract the tar from any linux instance. make sure to do it as root.
